Ballerina Sisters

Makayla and Savannah performed beautifully at their dance recitals the first of June.

We spent a dance filled weekend of 3 dress rehearsals Thurs. and Fri. nights and attending 3 dance recitals all day Saturday. All those dance lessons this year paid off though, watching the girls dance. Savannah was darling and so cute to watch twirling around and around. And Makayla has grown leaps and bounds this year with her technique. She looked like a dancer!

Makayla's favorite thing about dance is that she gets to dance with her BFF, Lauren.

Logan and Holden were good sports considering all the DANCING they had to endure.

Makayla performed two numbers this year. Her Ballet class performed"Coppelia." (She is 3rd from the right.)

It's official . . . it's Summer!

We took a day trip to Corpus Christi a couple weeks ago for Memorial day and loved every minute of it. If I could spend every day of summer on the beach, I would!

Luckily we have trained our kids to love spending the day at the beach too. They love building sand castles with daddy, hunting for shells with me, and taking long family walks along the shore. I'm counting down the days 'til we can escape for another weekend to my favorite get away. . .

Whirlwind Last Week of School

Whew! What a crazy fun-filled last week of school! 3 end-of-the-year class parties, 3 swim parties, 1 Orffestra concert, 1 tie dye party, 1 morning video announcements to attend, and don't forget about the 3 dance rehearsals and 3 dance recitals that weekend.

Ummm . . . can I say?: I LOVE SUMMER!!!



Logan was lucky this year with 2 amazing teachers! Mrs. N had a new baby in March so Logan was lucky enough to get Mrs. M too.

Makayla had 2 teachers this year too. She learned so much from Mrs. A and Mrs. D in Big 4th grade.

For her class party, Makayla and her friends played Freeze Dance.

She also played beautifully in her Orffestra concert and had a blast at an end of the year swim party with all of her school friends.

Savannah got to play at 2 swim parties for preschool and playgroup. She has grown so much this year!

We ended our whirlwind of a week tie dying t-shirts with my good friend, Kelly and her kids. The kids had a blast and the t-shirts turned out pretty cute too.

Logan has really taken off this year with soccer. He loves it! He has figured out that if he goes after the ball he has a better chance of making a goal so he is after that ball. We have cheered this year as he has made goal after goal. Way to go Logan!



Another reason we have loved soccer so much is Logan plays with the cutest little team: The Jedis. We love all the boys he plays with and their families. A fun group of friends!

Makayla's #10 Beach Bash

We celebrated Makayla's birthday Beach Style this year!

Since we are lacking in the backyard pool department, we improvised with water relay games, squirt guns, water balloons, sprinklers and a colossal water fight. A good time had by ALL!

We finished off our beach theme with pina colada sorbets and costco cake. (Love Costco!) The entire party was spent outside so I ended with a clean house. : ) Check birthday #10 off as a success. Although after pulling this event off, I have considered making year number 10 the last year for official birthday parties.

Battle of the Books Birthday!

My little girl is now 10!

When did that happen? How the past few years have flown by! Makayla has grown into a very talented and beautiful girl. She brings a ray of sunshine with her smiles and is a caring friend and helpful big sister (when she wants to be : ). I love you, Makayla!






This year we got to celebrate Makayla's birthday at the district Battle of the Books.

During the year, Makayla has been busily reading 20 books off the 4th grade reading list, donned Battle Books. She then took a test in class to prove who knew the most about these 20 books to form their class Battle Team. Makayla was chosen for their class team and competed in her school's 4th grade Battle of the Books and WON!!!

I'm so happy Makayla has developed such a love for reading. Kudos to whoever came up with the Battle of the Books. What a fun idea to get kids so excited about reading! Stories come to life in your head with a good book. Reading is probably one of my absolute favorite things to do, and I hope my kids all enjoy it as much as I do.

After winning the school wide competition, Makayla's team moved on to the district semi-finals, which just happened to fall on her birthday. So we got to celebrate two fun events in one night.

Makayla's team competed and won the district semi-finals, and then competed in the district finals that same evening. Her battle team came close to becoming the district champions. Good job, ladies! They knew their stuff and rang in their buzzer super quick, but the last few teams they competed against were all on the ball and it was a very competitive event. Mike and I were on the edge of our seats rooting for our team. FUN night!

One Swine flu theory . . .

A couple weeks ago, sanitizer application became a ritual in our car coming out of every store when the swine flu scare was going around. One day after slathering on the sanitizer, I was saying, "Put on lots of sanitizer. We don't want to get the swine flu."

Savannah replied, "No, we don't want the swines to come and eat us."

I guess I need to explain the swine flu better to my children.
