Family Fun at the Alamo

While Andrea and Chase were visiting, we also spent the day at the Alamo. The kids love taking our family visitors downtown to see the sights. Their favorite thing about the Alamo is not the history or the museum, but the giant fish swimming in a tiny stream on the Alamo grounds and making wishes in the fountain.

We had such a nice week with Andrea, Chase and Emmy! We miss them already. Hurry back to Texas!

Def Leppard Rocks!

Yes, I admit it. I'm a total KBER! For those of you who did not grow up in Utah or in the 80's, KBER 101 was my FAVORITE hard rock music station and they played all the good stuff--80's hair bands in their glory. My all time favorite rock band is of course--Def Leppard. So you can see my utmost joy when I discovered that Def Leppard was performing on Dancing With the Stars! Yes, I am also obsessed with Dancing With the Stars. Makayla and I love to watch it together and pick our favorite dancing couples. On Monday nights, we come home from dance lessons, have a quick dinner and watch Dancing With the Stars for Family Home Evening. (Some Mondays we do have a real lesson : ) So combined, Def Leppard rocking the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars made for a magical tv moment. I wanted to share this special moment with all of you so you could share in my happiness. Enjoy! (You may want to go to the bottom of my blog and turn off my music player before you watch the clip so you can enjoy Def Leppard in its fullness.)

A Day on the River Walk . . .

Do you see a central color theme going on in this picture? Yes, you guessed it. Go Blue! We were down on the River Walk the same night as the final game for the final four. James--you would have been in heaven! It was a little chaotic, lots of yelling and excited drunk people around, but it was also a fun atmosphere on the river (and it cleared out when the game started, just in time to get a table on the water for dinner at the restaurant here.)

Makayla poses for a magic water moment along the river.

Kayla loves her Aunt Annie!

Before . . .

After!

When Chase finished his conference, he got to spend a few days with us too. We had a great day showing him the sights downtown.

Andrea's Visit to Texas

For my birthday this year, I got the best present I could have asked for--my sister, Andrea came to visit! She and Emmy stayed with us while her husband Chase was attending a conference. We had a great week filled with shopping at La Cantera Mall, playing with the kids at the park, oh yeah, and did I mention more shopping at the outlets? You need to know that shopping is an important part of Warnick family fun. We have some awesome outlet stores in Texas! Not to mention Anz and I scored some good deals (Jeanette--you would be so proud.) Mike and I also got to go out for my birthday, while Andrea watched the kids.

Emmy is a sweetheart! The minute we saw her she greeted us with a huge grin and cute little laughter. Is she always so happy, Anz? Yes. She is a good baby! My kids were in heaven playing with their cute cousin all week.

What Cute Girls!

Can you tell that we couldn't get the kids to sit still for one decent photo? They were having too much fun playing together to worry about posing to look cute.

Young Master Makayla

Makayla was chosen as one of only a few kids in her grade to participate in the Young Masters Art Exibit. Many schools from the district took part in the art show. Makayla loves to draw, and she was very excited to display her salt painting of a husky.
Andrea and Emmy enjoyed seeing Makayla's art project in person while they were visiting. Makayla wants to be an artist like her Aunt Annie when she grows up.

Savannah the Cheerleader

Go Dragons! Savannah and Brooklyn are Logan and Cameron's best cheerleaders. They love watching the games and cheering their big brothers on.

Savannah loves soccer almost as much as Logan, but only because she gets to play with her little girl friends Brooklyn and Alex. Here the girls are spinning and spinning to make their skirts twirl. This is also a favorite activity of hers in Nursery.

Go Dragons!

It is officially soccer season once again. That means that I am officially a Soccer Mom, I guess. Logan loves playing soccer. He also loves being on the same team with his buddy, Cameron. He has a great little team, the Dragons, and has an amazing coach who is very patient with helping all these cute little boys turn into kicking machines.

Surprisingly enough, Logan has a left power kick that throws the other team off. He has scored a goal the last two games. He is really improving this year.

When my sister, Andrea, was here visiting she came to Logan's game and took these two great shots of our little soccer hero. What a cute boy! Thanks, Anz.

Our Garden: Growing and Improved

Mike decided the best way to help our garden grow this year was to reinforce it so the squirrels couldn't eat all of our tomatoes. He built this amazing greenhouse-like contraption that I was worried would be kind of big but looks really nice once he got it finished. The kids think it's fun to open the doors to water their plants. I'll let you know if it works.

Planting our Garden

We have tried to grow a garden the past couple of years without much success. We haven't quite figured out how to keep out the pesky sqirrels and birds or how to grow vegetables in the Texas heat. Our kids love it though and love to help plant the garden and take care of their own tomato plants. We're crossing our fingers we have some luck this year.

Logan: The Bike Legend

With all the bike riding practice for the bike rodeo, Logan learned to ride his bike without training wheels! Santa brought him a new shiny red bike that he seemed a little unsure of at first, but now tears it up like a speed racer.

Bike Rodeo

Earlier this year Makayla got 3rd place out of all the third grade girls in her school's Bike Rodeo. She has gotten very skilled at riding her bike and did the course like a pro! It didn't hurt that her overachieving parents took her down to the school the night before the rodeo to practice the course.

Coloring Eggs

The kids had a blast coloring eggs for Easter. Amazingly enough we suceeded in coloring all the eggs without major incident.

Hunting Easter Eggs at Preschool

Logan had fun at preschool looking for Easter Eggs the week before Easter. Savannah thought she was just as big as all the preschoolers and was close behind Logan's heels. After the hunt I noticed Logan was quite popular with the ladies in his class. He posed for a picture with his friends at school--all girls!

I Love Twilight!!!

I just thought I would let you in on a little secret--I love Edward! I had so much fun escaping into Vampire world reading the Twilight series that I can't wait for the movie. I thought you might enjoy watching the clip as much as I did. (It's at the bottom of my blog :) I had it at the top and Mike said that it shouldn't be more prominent than pictures of the kids. I guess he has a good point. . . priorities.

Easter Fun on Easter Sunday!

We had such a fun Easter weekend. What cute kids we have! Logan was the master hunter--very focused on finding ALL the eggs (even after the hunt was over he found a few stragglers.) Makayla was cute and tried to save a few eggs for Savannah who was very busy arranging her 5 eggs neatly in her basket.

Yes. I am now a blogger!

As you can see I have joined the modern technilogical world and am now attempting to blog. This may be a low-budget deal, but I love to see how all of you are doing and hope that my attempt at this will let you see into the life of the Manwarings just a little bit.
