Sightseeing in South Padre

Our semi-annual South Padre trip wouldn't be complete without our good friends, Mike and Susie and their family. After spending the weekend swimming and lounging on the beach, we spent our last day of vacation sightseeing on the island.

So this only took me 2 weeks to post the to be continued part of our vacation. That may tell you a little bit about the last 2 weeks--busy! Lots of fun things going on and fun pics to follow . . .

First on the list to visit: The Turtle Hospital
The kids love visiting the sea turtles who need a little extra care due to losing fins and not being strong enough swimmers to be out in the ocean on their own. We always learn new things visiting the turtles.

Makayla even got a turn scrubbing Mr. Turtle's back! Once the brush hit the water, he knew a good back scratch was coming and slowing headed over for his favorite part of the day.

The littlest spectators. Also quite possibly the cutest.

Next: A drive-by tour of the old Lighthouse in Port Isabel. Built in 1853.

Last: a lazy walk down the pier in search of crabs, cranes, and alligators.

We are definitely a beach-loving family! Glad we trained our kids to enjoy it as much as Mike and I do. : )
